Roller Thrust Bearing Very Essential for Long Lasting Performance

Having a large industrial setup is an investment from where the best returns are expected. In those setup based purely on equipment, it becomes very essential to also look at various important key components that can ensure best outcome in terms of operation and productivity.

Rotary type of bearing that allows smooth rotation

The thrust type of bearings belongs to rotary bearing category. Similar to different type of rotary bearings it allows rotation among machine parts, however the purpose for its design is to support high type of axial load.  As mentioned the Thrust ball bearing is suitable for applications involving less axial load and in such application rings are provided to support the ball bearings.

This bearing type is generally used in applications with higher speed with mandatory requirement of oil lubrication, like in aerospace, automotive industries. Usually thrust bearing is formed with two raceways / washers to ensure smooth movement of ball bearing.

As different loads require certain fixed criteria, thrust type of bearings are manufactured in different models to suit the requirements such as Cylindrical Roller, Needle Roller, Tapered Roller, Spherical roller type of thrust bearings. Based on the load bearing capacity, the property of each bearing differs from one to another.

Can Easily Handle High Axial Type Load

The spherical roller type thrust bearings are rolling element thrust type bearing. the function of this type is to allow rotation with very low friction, it also allows any angular type of misalignment in operation. Essentially designed for handling radial load, as well as heavy axial type load presence in single direction. Usually, it supports the rotating shaft fitted in shaft washer bore which can be misaligned due to shape of housing washer.

Thrust bearing of Spherical Roller type are used for application requiring high axial type load. It also supports shafts which is not in aligned properly and can cause disruption in application. Due to self-aligning feature, this bearing can handle axial load especially high loads.

Different range and type

The rolling element and ring of bearing is most commonly made from chrome Steel, however there is range of different material which can be used. For making a bearing cage, Sheet Steel either stamped or laser cut type, Machined or Stamped Brass or machined steel can be used. Basically the material selection for making cage is done considering quantity and method adopted. As in case of low volume requirements, machined steel or brass is used, and in case of large volume, cages are made of stamped sheet.

There are many reputed manufacturers providing best quality Roller Thrust Bearing without any compromise of material and specification. Remember buying a machine or its component is an investment for long time.
