It is popularly known as the keyboard drawer. It proves to be helpful in saving space and thus reducing the clutter on the surface of the desk where the monitor is also kept.

Most of the drawers which are used as a separate platform for placing keyboards on, can be tilted slightly as we pull them out for use. They also provide padded sections where the wrists would fall in place during the usage. Since these trays are attached to the desk, there is no burden of holding the support of these fittings manually either.
